What is this and why is it so awesome?
[link]Just found out about this webcomic/game/animation(?) website a couple days ago. To be honest I have no idea what is going on in the story, and looking into the log I am barely halfway into it. The story I have reached so far is that some game can control these characters' environment and world, and all of sudden a giant meteor strikes the planet. Imps dressed up as jesters and clowns are attacking and I'm in distopian future?
Can someone enlighten me?

It takes a long time to catch up, and there are some long bits that can get pretty boring (Act 1, and the depending on tastes, an act later on) but it's pretty cool.
Some of the fandom is
er
Odd, but I guess you get that with any fandom. There are some super cool people, though, and honestly packed with the concepts of the story, and how often it updates, it's pretty cool.
I think he kind of called it a mix of...Sims, Earthbound and...something else too, but I forget.
Once I got to the first animation I was pretty much doing backflips. The animations are soooo cool, and always worth watching ask;jaf I just love it so much hahaha
It just gets better and better as you go along XD
And I mean it as it gets out of hand! Ideas get crazier and crazier, every page becomes a callback to another page, storylines are done out of a linear fashion, time shenanigans abound, characters up the wazoo - it's a beast. Andrew Hussie does most of the art, and animates the flashes, but other kind folks do the music, and he starts incorporating art from other artists (only in the flashes, though - he still does the page-by-page update) towards the end of Act 4.
I hope that was informative! Homestuck is one of those things that's terribly hard to explain without divulging a good deal of the story.
It's a great webcomic, though. C8 In fact, I sit next to one of the MS Paint Adventure artists in my portfolio class. They're great people with crazy ideas.
